Johanna Crane is a fairly popular author, especially with the goth subculture, who lives a half hour outside of Gotham City. An outspoken woman, Johanna often has to deal with accusations of insanity mostly due to her past, but has been stable for years despite her problems. Her novels are usually considered to be in the horror genre and themes dealing with body image, death and psychological trauma often are in her stories. She writes for adults and it should be emphasized that her books aren't for children and should not be read by them.

Exorcising the Demons is a sort of fan project centered around a personal alternate universe version of a DC Comics character, Jonathan Crane aka the Scarecrow. This particular alternate universe premise is What if the Scarecrow was really female? and this is what resulted.
